Terms of Service
The service
Casting Compressed re-encodes an audition or application video you send us so that the resulting file falls under the size limit of the casting form you are submitting to — ordinarily 50 MB. We aim to return the compressed file by email within20 min of receiving it.
What we do not promise
- We are not connected to any casting organisation. Casting Compressed is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of CBS, Paramount, or the producers of any programme. Using this service has no bearing on whether you are cast.
- Compression is lossy. Reducing a multi-gigabyte file to50 MB necessarily discards image data. We tune for the case of a person talking to camera, but we cannot promise the result will be indistinguishable from your original.
- Turnaround is a target, not a guarantee. 20 min is what we aim for and normally hit. Do not leave your submission so late that a delay would cost you the deadline.
- We do not submit anything for you. Uploading the compressed file to the casting portal, and meeting that portal's deadline and requirements, is yours to do.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that you own the video you send us or have permission to use it, that everyone who appears in it consents to it being processed, and that its content is lawful. Do not send us anything you do not have the right to send.
Files and limits
We accept source files up to 7 GB in common formats. We may decline a file that is corrupt, unreadable, or outside what the service is for.
If something goes wrong
If the file we return is unusable, tell us and we will re-run it. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for a missed casting deadline, a rejected application, or any consequential loss.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting the updated terms.
